Black Mountain Games is a Finalist for the Innovation in Visual Art Award at the 2006 Independent Games Festival

San Jose, Calif., March 21, 2006 - Black Mountain Games, an independent video game development studio, announced that it is a finalist for the Innovation In Visual Art Award at the “Sundance” of software festivals, the Independent Games Festival. Black Mountain Games is being recognized for Putt Nutz, a family-friendly miniature golf game that is fun, easy-to-use and completely original. Putt Nutz features the Putt family, a cast of crazy, zany family members who will take you through perilous jungles, underwater to swim with the fish, get you shrunk down and then, if you’re lucky, dropped off on a private island.

“As an independent game developer, our focus is on the creation of fun, great-looking, family-friendly ideas that are underrepresented in today’s marketplace,” said Black Mountain Games President, Suzanne Brooks. “We are pleased to add to the high-quality of innovation in the casual games category with Putt Nutz.”

Putt Nutz is a fast paced, over-the-top, 3D Miniature Golf game fully playable on current generation console, PC/CD-ROM and coming soon to PSP. This is the first, current-generation, multi-platform miniature golf game to combine the thrill of traditional putting with the excitement of moving, fast paced console elements. Putt Nutz features 72 stunning holes rich with interactive course elements and a fully animated set of characters to guide players through their golfing adventure.

“Putt Nutz is a direct reflection of the creativity and talent of the Black Mountain Games team. They have been able to leverage the best of their knowledge to create a unique family-friendly game that’s interactive, easy and completely original,” said iBloks President and CEO, Julia Miller. “We congratulate the Black Mountain Games team on being selected as a finalist for the Innovation in Visual Art Award category at the Independent Games Festival.”

The Game Developers Conference established the Independent Games Festival in 1998 to encourage innovation in game development and to recognize the best independent game developers. This year’s conference takes place March 20-24 in San Jose, California. The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony on March 22, 2006.
